PALADIN'S SHOW RECORD

If you're looking to breed to a Shire stallion that has it ALL, search no more!

Paladin is a stallion who is made to show and work; there is nothing he enjoys more than strutting into a show ring in-hand for a conformation class, being put under harness for a workout, or saddled up for dressage training!  One of the best attributes of the modern Shire breed is its temperament, and Paladin is no exception.  He is always alert, inquisitive, and intelligent; yet he is also completely tractable and anxious to please.

Paladin also has the conformation to back up his great attitude!  He is a fabulous example of the modern type Shire horse.  He has great substance and bone to balance his tall height and elegant looking body. The foundation of a draft horse is, and will always be, the feet and legs.  Paladin has an excellent foundation, with flawless feet that are large, sound, and rock hard.  His bone is heavy and flat; on straight, sound legs; and his joints are large, clean, and free-moving.  Without any gimmicks or devices, Paladin's hockset is nothing less than a textbook example of what a judge in the show ring looks for on a Shire!  His deep, sloping shoulder allows for free movement and beautiful action in front, which is backed up by a set of powerful hindquarters with strong joints and muscles in the rear.  Paladin's elegant neck ties in cleanly at the throatlatch to his attractive head, both of which give him a more refined look than many other stallions of his breed. Paladin's topline is one of his best assets, with well- defined withers that extend into a short, strong back and long, gently sloping croup.

Paladin's movement and athleticism is exceptional within the Shire breed. Paladin has natural balance, and the ability to collect himself and use his hocks.  His elegant action really turns heads- his gaits under saddle include a light, floating trot and soft, balanced canter. He is very forward and light on his forehand, all of which quite rare for a horse of a draft breed, especially one of only three years of age!

Paladin's unbeatable pedigree includes such greats as Clarach Gay Aristocrat, Garreg William, Edingale Mascot, and Dyfed Grey Prince.  Paladin's dam, Jenson Sampson Nellie, was the 1st place filly foal at the 1999 National Shire Show in Colorado.  Both his sire and dam also have numerous wins from State Fairs and shows in the South and Midwest.  I have had the pleasure of meeting Paladin's sire, dam, and many full- and half-siblings at Dapplewoods Shires in Oklahoma over the years.  Theirs is a bloodline that consistently produces althletic, sane foals with show size and conformation.  Paladin will help his sire to continue this pattern in the years to come!

You can see Paladin's impressive show record below.  He will continue to be shown in halter and dressage in the coming years!

Dapplewoods Paladin is standing at stud to a limited number of approved mares in 2006. Please contact me for a copy of his breeding contract, DVD (featuring him in-hand AND undersaddle), and further information about booking your quality Shire or light breed mare!
